We watched "Shoot 'Em Up" tonight. I knew it was an over-the-top gun fight movie, and that's about it. In the first few minutes, the hero kills a man with a carrot and delivers a baby in the middle of a gun fight. It goes, well, downhill from there.

It's cheesy and has more gratuitous violence than a Tarantino movie, but I don't know when I've had this much fun watching a movie.

I have been crazy-happy-giddy ever since my mom told me my grandparents are moving... they've been living about two hours away, in absolute BFE - so if the weather is even the least bit icky, I don't dare drive. They're going to be half an hour away, in mom's town, in a much better place than they've been living.

My sweet Grammy asked mom, "do you think Jenny will come visit me more?" Darn tootin'! I'm going to be there every week at least, driving her bananas probably. :)

I have the advantage of a young family - I'm in my thirties and Grammy is in her seventies. Grampy is in his eighties. Neither of them are in the best of health, and Grammy especially. So I'm so glad I can visit them more without advance planning and weather checking and spending half a day driving.

And yes, I am in my thirties and call them Grammy and Grampy. In public, even. I don't know when I started doing that but I'm pretty sure it's been since adulthood - it just fits.

I've discovered the joy that is Paperback Book Swap. Today, I listed 26 books, sent out one, and ordered four. Unfortunately the books I wanted most weren't there, but some were technical and some were too popular to last long. They're all on my wish list so we shall see.

And if people want the books I've listed, I'll get my shelves emptied a bit in no time! Granted, with five sets bookshelves and at least two more boxes of books, I won't be hurting for reading material ever.

I haven't done a meme/quiz in a while, and I found this at Tattood Librarian:

1) When you walk in your front door, which room do you enter?
Living room

2) Do you have a dishwasher?
Yes!

3) Is your living room carpeted or does it have hardwood floors?
Carpet and Tile

4) Do you keep your kitchen knives on the counter or in a drawer?
On the wall with a magnetic strip

5) House, apartment, duplex or trailer?
House

6) How many bedrooms is it?
Three but one's the "office"

7) Gas stove or electric?
Gas

8) Do you have a yard?
Yes, with a privacy fence - it doesn't all touch the ground and some leans in a decidely Redneck-style fashion, but it has a fence.

9) What size TV is in the living room?
50" wall-mounted plasma

10) Are your plates in the same cupboard as your cups?
No. They must be kept separated for their own protection. :D

11) Is there a coffee maker sitting on your kitchen counter?
We don't have a coffee maker.

12) What room is your computer in?
All three of our computers are in our Office/Library/Computer Room

13) Are there pictures hanging in your living room?
Yes

14) Are there any themes found in your home?
Living Room is medieval, office is Lord of the Rings, kitchen is a vague retro/country/old advertisements look, other rooms still in flux

15) What kind of laundry detergent do you use?
Whatever name brand I can save money on

16) Do you use dryer sheets?
Liquid in a Downey ball

17) Do you have any curtains in your home?
Yes

18) What color is your fridge?
White. I almost had to go look. ;D

19) Is your house clean?
It's Sunday morning and the husband had the house to himself last night. Need you ask?

20) What room is the most neglected?
Our bedroom - it's the dumping ground for stuff unfortunately.

21) Are the dishes in your sink/dishwasher clean or dirty?
Dishwasher clean, sink dirty. It's on my list for the day!

22) How long have you lived in your home?
About 1 1/2 years

23) Where did you live before?
Another house in another city

24) Do you have one of those fluffy toilet lid covers on your toilet?
NO! I had a psychology class years ago, and the professor had had a patient with a fetish for fuzzy toilet seat covers. After that... nope, not gonna do it.

25) Do you have a scale anywhere in your house?
Yes, in the bathroom.

26) How many mirrors are in your house?
Three, if you count both sides of the double medicine cabinet.

27) Look up. What do you see?
Above my desk? A LotR poster

28) Do you have a garage?
No. I want one. We have room for one. It's that darned cash flow... never enough. :\

I've started digital scrapbooking, which I think is loads of fun. I went through and organized all my digital photos.

I have one huge batch from a wedding several years ago - one of my husband's closest friends. The marriage has ended. I don't have a desire to keep the photos - but it feels wrong somehow to delete them. The day happened. The pictures were taken.

I don't know.

I cancelled my monthly subscription to Weight Watchers today. Why? Because by the time that the next payment is due... I'll be a LIFETIME MEMBER and will be able to attend meetings free.

I still have 20 pounds I intend to lose, but I'm now at the very top of the accepted weight range. It is such a good feeling!

I decided on January 1st last year to keep track of every book I read. I just added the last of them to my lists here at Vox and then added them up - two hundred twenty-five books in three hundred sixty-five days. Not too shabby. :)

I'm going to do the same thing for 2008 but I'll track them at Good Reads rather than here.

my 'read' shelf:
